Hibiscus Court
by Fr. Brawn Sullivan
Maeve Sheridan is a wife and mother in the East Bay, an event planner in the city of Oakland and a young woman with a strong and lifelong faith in an all-good and all-powerful God. Maeve’s world is rocked to its foundation the morning her husband and young son are killed in a car crash, leaving her to try to put back together not just the pieces of her life but her deep and abiding faith in that all-good and all-loving God. A spiritual as well as an emotional journey, HIBISCUS COURT probes some of the deepest questions the human heart can ask, tracing Maeve’s fight to recover from shattering loss. Why would an all-good, all-loving and all-powerful God permit such a senseless tragedy? Why should Maeve continue in faith and allegiance to God, as she always has?
And, most importantly, presented unexpectedly with the chance to love again, to dream again, can Maeve make the transition from death and devastation to life and hope?
